2013 Christmas Window

The shop window.  A good one grabs the attention of the casual browser, peaks the interest of the urban flâneur, catches the eye of the unprepared pedestrian.  Makes you look, makes you stare, hopefully makes you come inside and have a closer look.  And the most prestigious shop window is at Christmas, when everybody is a bit more open to the charms of a well dressed shop front. This Christmas Jonathan Trumbull are showcasing the work of local Norfolk artist Lee King.  He has created a polar bear constructed from... Read More

Burberry Cashmere Scarves

Burberry’s position as a global brand has only increased in recent years with Kevin Spacey being a one man advert for them in the last few months.  The continued interest in British heritage labels like Burberry and Paul Smith from the eastern markets of China and Japan means the future looks bright for UK fashion.  This Autumn Winter they have again come up with a variety of variations on their classic touchstone pieces like the Mac and the Scarf.  The check design from Burberry dates from the 1920’s when it... Paul Smith Baubles 2013

I was waiting until we got a bit nearer to December before even mentioning the festive period and it’s associated obligations.  But our most Christmas oriented items are selling out and they’re rather special, so my hand has been forced to the keyboard.  For a few years now Paul Smith’s Accessories label has got into the Christmas spirit with a festive Paul Smith bauble in a range of designs, including stripes and swirls in the multi stripe colours.  I’ve been told by the boys in the shop that this season... Harley Davidson Window

Who is it that said “A window is an eye to the cruise control’? Nobody? Either way, the shop window is what gets you to go into a shop you’ve never heard of, if you’re just walking past.  Since we opened in the 70’s we’ve known that a good window is the best way to show your stock to the people, to create a world in the mind of the customer, a world where they want to live.  Our latest triumph of spacial awareness is the placement of a Harley... Scotch & Soda SS13

A late addition to our Spring Summer collection for 2013 is new label Scotch & Soda.  The brand is based in Amsterdam, Holland and since it’s relaunch into fashion in 2002 has been one of the most innovative labels out there.  Their original and occasionally bold use of detail makes each one of their pieces an individual, full of character and interest.  The collection this season reflects the current vintage trend, with washed out colours and on trend fades and wear marks. We’ve gone for a set of shirts that... Read More

Oliver Sweeney shoes have starred at our Jonathan Trumbull store for over a decade and the collection for 2013 is just as exciting and engaging as ever.  We’ve selected three designs to concentrate on for a blog post to draw your attention to Sweeney’s latest direction. First the Picolit in tan leather and beige suede.  The Picolit is a popular design in the style of an Oxford brogue, featuring the pointed sole shape typical of Oliver Sweeney shoes.  The two-tone and dual material uppers provide the protection of leather with...
