Paul Smith Red Ear started in 1999 initially as a denim purist’s line, its core product being unwashed Japanese selvage denim. The name originated from the Japanese word “akamimi” meaning “red ear.” This is in reference to the red lines that run down the edge of selvage denim. Red Ear has since developed into a premium jeans collection inspired by Paul’s love of antique work wear. Intricate details on utilitarian fabrics and exclusively woven denims are the essence.
